Whitney and Grampy

Good morning, a wonderful Sunday morning, still raining, and how we needed it. Hopefully this will be the start of some continued rain. Went to church and got a few bits of food for our Sunday afternoon cookout with Stew and Merry. As long as there is food and sports on TV, Stew will b.e here, also some liquid refreshment.

I am again unemployed, I quit my job at the golf course(two days a week), one would think that two days a week would not be that stressful, but it seemed that management and I had a different outlook on things. I had told Nancy a long time ago that I would work until it wasn't fun, well it wasn't fun and I quit. The only downside to this is that I will have to join the club if I want to keep playing golf....

So, I have been working a lot in the yard, cleaning out flower beds that have not been touched in years, many. Stew has also been helping me now that our company has gone home. Its been fun and now looks better, just have to figure out what to do with the area.

BIG NEWS---Now that I out of work, what do you do? Pack your bags and go to Hawaii and visit Andrew and family. We, yes Nancy is going to break away from the twins and go with me. We will be gone for 10 days and I am looking forward to playing some golf with Andrew and doing a lot of sightseeing, and spending time with Britt and Anna. We don't get to spend as much time with them as I would like, but it's a long ride to visit. So wish us well, should be a lot of fun. From all that Nancy told me about her trip, I know this will be fun. This will not be my first trip to Hawaii, I think I told about our first trip in an earlier post but for those who did not read that one, a short reminder. Nancy and I spent 5 days on the Kona Coast, in 1969, when I met her for my R&R from Vietnam, I'm sure this trip will be a bit different that the last one...

One other thing I've been doing is going to Addie's T-Ball games, this has been a lot of fun watching four year olds learn to play ball. Now, many have no idea what is going on but seem to have fun. Addie has been playing catcher which she likes because she gets to catch the ball and be involved in the game. Her hitting has gotten better and is now better than some on her team. Her team has six girls, the only team out of six that has that many, a couple have no girls. The first four games did not count, since games count they are 1-1, and doing well. The best part of this is that Addie really has fun and that's what it is all about, having fun...

Well, one of these days I am going to get back to my Army days, this week I got a e mail from an Armor OCS graduate from the time that I was there, I think this is going open a whole new line of research for me, and make contact will some people I have not seen or heard from in 40 years.

Good evening, tonight I am going to write a little bit about the past five weeks...It has been a jam packed time with a lot of food and fun. In the beginning, Mom, Fudd, and Ellen came for a visit, Fudd fished in a bit Bass tournament, played golf with Stew and me, of course I won. Fudd and Ellen stayed for a week, but Mom stayed and is still here. While they were all here, Colleen came from Arizona to help Hannah, as promised. We also had a big cooked out with all of the above, plus Hannah, Wes,Addie, Whitney, and John, and Aunt Beth and Cousin Mary, a big day, also the day of the Daytona 500.





We had a break, and then it was time for Karrie,Kevin, and Fin came for two weeks, also Kristie for only a couple days before they all went to AnnaMaria Island for a week on the beach. Jodi joined them at the beach. Nancy, Mom, Hannah and the kids went to visit for a day. Of course we had another cookout for one and all.





Tomorrow everyone goes home including Mom. She has stayed for five weeks, its hard to believe she has been here that long. I think she has had a good time. She has been to Bingo three nights a week, hasn't won much but had fun. She has spent a lot of time with Hannah, holding and feeding the twins, which I really think she enjoyed. She has set in the sun almost everyday and is working on a good tan.....We have taken her out for lunch and dinner several times and the girls have taken her shopping a few times. It has been a great time having Mom here to spend this time with us, hope she will comes back again next year and stay longer, now that she knows she can..... The first at bat for Addie

A wonderful day in sunny Florida, Mom,Nancy, Hannah and three kids have gone to Anna Marie Island to speed the day with Stew and his family. Had text message that they had fun at the beach.

Mom will be going home next week with Karrie and family, we were talking last night and she said this has been the longest she has been away from home at one time, six weeks. I think she has been happy here with the warm weather and being able to be outside. She has been sitting in the sun, working on her tan, and going to Bingo( only three nights a week) problem is she hasn't been winning as much as she would like. Last night she got to go to her great granddaughter's T-Ball game, Addie is playing this year and of course the whole family goes. She has another game tomorrow night, so get to see one more. She has also spent a lot of time at Hannah's, holding and feeding the twins, which by the way are growing like weeds. It's amazing how big they are getting.

Ok, I got to first base, what do I do now.......

I think when Stew gets back from his vacation at the beach, we will start our first project of the year. We (?) are going to redo the cabinets in our kitchen. This is a project that is way past due , and will be a big one as we have I think 38 cabinet doors to redo. Wish me luck as I know I will need it, supervising Stew that long.

P.S. Last Friday we had the annual Rogers Florida Cook out, will give more later but including one picture. This is Fin, Addie, and Aunt Kristi after eating black jelly beans.

The surprise is that I am actually updating my blog. So for the few that have been checking for an update, today is your lucky day....

The past few weeks have been very busy with Twins, company and just a lot going on. The good news is that the Twins are really doing well, growing like weeds, pictures to follow. Had a big weekend, Saturday morning I played in a local golf tournament, didn't do very well but have fun. As soon as I finished playing I came home, changed clothes and headed to Ocala to meet Stew, Merry, and Nancy to take in a George Jones concert. Big crowd, but poor old George is coming to the end of his singing career. It was tough to see him try to sing his old hits and really struggle. When I got home I looked him up on the computer and found out that he is 78 years old. For 78 he did a good job, I didn't realize he was that old. Nancy bought me a CD and we listened to it on the way home, vintage George....

Village Horse Pull

Yesterday was a cold, windy day, and Stew,Merry and I went to the Villages to a horse pull, we froze but it was very interesting as it wasn't like what we are used to at Tunbridge fair. About the only thing that was the same was the horses. I took a couple of pictures with my phone, I will try and post one of them here, but not sure it will happen. After the pull it was home and get ready for the "weekly" cookout and watch the Nascar race and get the family together. After supper Wes, Hannah and children came for a visit and dessert. Did I saw earlier who much the Twins have grown....Need to go out and work in the yard, promise it will not be so long before I write again...........
