I know everyone who reads my blog also reads Hannah's and if so you know what has been happening with the twins, but I thought I might just add a little from Grampy. The twins are great, they're small but not skinning, they are eating well and gaining every day. Even I can see the improvement, and the improvement of Hannah, Tuesday she was not in the best of shape but even though she has had a really tough week, she is looking very good. The twins improving has helped her, as she isn't worried about them. The care they have received here is truly outstanding.

Today we spent most of the day with Addie, first it was to the mall and a trip to Build a Bear, to get a dog for her and two small dogs for Whitney and John, after that is was a trip to see the Ringling Brothers, Barham and Bailey Circus. I survived the day and will be go to sleep soon. Addie had fun at the Circus, Dogs, Horses, Elephants etc.

Tomorrow we go home and get ready for the rest of the week. The elderly lady that I have help for many years died last Monday and her service is Tuesday morning, and then back to work on Wednesday.

I want to thank everyone who has been so kind and helpful this difficult week, the many prayers for the Hannah, Wes and family have really helped all of us get through this tough time, the toughest times are behind us but please continue to keep all of us in you prayers.

I wrote this last night but could not get the pics to post, it is now Monday afternoon and a great update, the twins should be home either tomorrow or the next day......Praise the Lord...

Germany Part II

I guess I need a bit of a change from Twins and all that has been going on with them. They are doing good and I very glad of that but need to get my mind on something else for a few minutes.

As I said in my earlier post I was assigned to an Armor unit which meant a lot of field training and long hours but that didn't mean that I didn't have time to have fun. One thing about being in the military is that you instantly have new friends. Units have many activities and you soon find that everyone is in the same situation and close friendships are formed. Our unit would get together almost every Friday night at the Officer's Club for dinner and maybe a drink or two. Usually there was a Unit party once a month, this was fun. We went to many local restaurants for these parties, great places to eat.As time went on, we started exploring Germany. Europe is a wonderful place to spend time, everything is so old, Church, walled towns, Castles everywhere. Remember our country is only a bit over 400 years old whereas Europe is over thousand of years old, to look at a Castle that was built in the 1200's and you stand and look and wonder how the workers of that era built these beautiful structures with very crude tools and nothing but man power. It is hard to comprehend the process.

One of the first trip we took was to the wall city of Rottenburg, probably the most famous walled city in Germany. In the town square there is a large building that has a big clock and every 15 minutes it plays music and figurines put on a short performance. I don't remember how often it is done, but there is a dance group that performs in the town square. The city is filled with little shops that of course sell anything you may want. One that I remember is a toy store, where all the toys are hand made wood toys, I think it was called Gepittos. Of course there are very good places to eat. We went back to Rottenburg several times during our stay.

I know this is short but I promise to continue the series on a regular basis.

This is for those of you that do not read Hannah's blog.

My daughter Hannah, last night 1-12-09 gave birth to twins, Whitney Hope McClain and John Wayne McClain. Whitney is the oldest by three minutes and also the heaviest at 5 lb 1 oz to John's 5 lb. Not bad for twins. They are doing well as is Hannah. There is a more complete update on her blog.

This now means I have five grandchildren, four girls and John. You think about twins, read about them, but it sure is different when they appear in your family. I think this will be a wonderful future watching two little ones grow up together. Oh the times they will have together with their big sister Addie. I think she is still apprehensive about the whole thing, she does like the big sister role, but still says she will not change stinky diapers...only the pee pee ones.

I will get back to Germany in a few days.

Long time coming

Yes, its been a long time since I have written anything and I'm sure I've lost most of my loyal readers, but it has been a busy time through the holidays and of course Stew is here now, and that takes up some of my time, also I am working two days a week at the golf course. And most of you have been following Hannah's progress on her blog, and if you haven't you should. Its getting down to crunch time now with the twins.

Today,as is the case with most Sunday afternoons, Stew and Merry came out to watch football and have supper. Stew did the cooking today, using my grill, we had some good chicken. Wes, Hannah, and Addie came over to eat. We all had fun and Addie brought her new "baseball" stuff, and we went out and had a little game, pictures includes. She is actually going to play T-Ball this spring, there goes my nights, who would have thought my granddaughter would be playing baseball at four. Should be an interesting spring on the diamond...........This is it for today but I promise that I will do another post very soon.
