THE END IS NEAR

Thought that might make you at least read enough of my dribble to see what was up...or..down. The end is that I have scheduled my last surgery, at least for now. The big day is September 22, at that time they will do my cardioid artery and do a by pass on the blockage in my shoulder. If all goes well I should be back on track in a couple weeks after that. In talking with the doctor today I found out something interesting. I asked him where they would get the vein for the by pass and he said they use store bought vessels. He said they use a vein made out of Gortex. The same material they use on water proof boots, and rain suits. He said Gortex was developed by the medical community, and as a spin off in is used in clothing and boots. Seems strange but interesting.

I was going to have this done next week, but Nancy and I are going to VT on the 9th for a week and I didn't want anything to spoil her week with her mother and her first World's Fair in 30 years. I will try and get one more post before we leave.

The Storm is Over

Good evening, its Aug 23rd, and Tropical Storm Fay is done with us. We were lucky compared with other areas here in Florida. We got a little more than 10 inches of rain in the couple days it actually rained here. The wind do blow, and I had a yard full of moss from our large oak trees, it took me all morning to pick it up and get the yard so it looked like someone lived here. Yesterday Hannah and I went to town to do a couple of errands, and we went by Stew 's place to

make sure it had not floated away, well it was still there, however it looked like there was a moat around it. I think its a little low around his place. I did get out and make sure there was no water in his screen room. None was found and the Pimp mobile was high and dry.....

Hope this will be it for this year but its only August and the storms keep coming till October. It was good in the sense that we needed the rain. That's it for the storm. More later...

On The Mend

As is sit here this evening, watching the Olympics, listening to the wind and rain howling around our home, I am glad to report that I think I am back to normal. Feeling well and ready to get back to work. I will enough to do when this storm(Fay) goes through our area. We have been lucky with this one, that is until this afternoon when the wind and rain came and it looks like another bad day tomorrow. No major damage around that I have seen, but plenty of moss and small branches to pick up.

Next week I go for an appointment to schedule the rest of my overhaul, I hope to do it soon and get it over with. This every other week surgery it not a lot of fun. I had hoped to have it all done before going to Vermont is September but it may have to wait until I get back. Yes we are going or coming depending on where you read this, September 9th and returning home September 16th. Nancy needed to make the trip to be with her mother for a few days, and I need to check out my mother's new apartment, and if we have time, I guess we will spend some time at the fair. Nancy says it has been 30 years since she has been to the fair. This time though, I don't think she will be showing any cows. She did well showing her cows, still have the trophies......

Will let you all know when I find out more on the surgery.

Good Morning one and all, yes I am home and still on the correct side of the grass. All went well for now, I will have to go back soon for a little more of a tune up. They need to go and clean out my carotid artery and do a by pass on a blockage I have had for some time in my shoulder, hoping it will be soon, just to get it over with. My doctor did say that I had done a good job for the past 15 years, as my by passes are still looking good except for the one they just fixed. When I had the by pass in 1993 they told me that they would be good for 10 years, so it was time to get a check up. All seems to be good from here. Hannah seems to be doing a lot better, which we are all very grateful.. .....later

Update 8-08-08

Wow, 8-8-08 you realize this only happens once in 100 years, not a big deal but interesting.

Well I'm on the injured reserve for a while, not really the injured, I guess you would say the disabled list. Went to the doctors this week, and ended up with a heart cath, not much to it but they did find a blockage that needed to be fixed, so next Wednesday 8-13-08 I go in for an angioplasty and hopefully that will fix things. I am sure it will, my doctor is one of the best in the world, at least that what it said in the paper today. He is good, he has worked on me three or four times, we are almost old friends. After we get this done I have to go and have surgery on my carotid artery, not looking forward to that, had one done a few years ago and it wasn't fun at all. I don't think that will happen until after we get back from Vt in September. Guess this is the year to get an overhaul. I told Nancy it was a good thing she retired, because between Hannah and I she is keeping very busy. I do want to report that Hannah is doing better and is up and around most of the time. I am going to try and post a picture that Nancy took with her cell phone after my heart cath. Will try and keep you all posted on my progress.
